We began in the pretty town of Lenox, settled in 1750, population 5,077, an area that has a treasure trove of beautiful mansions from the Gilded Age. We visited Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum built between 1891 and 1893 in the Jacobean Revival style that was the 28,000 square foot summer home of George Morgan and his wife, Sarah Morgan, sister of J.P. Morgan, that is nestled on 11.7 acres and originally had 28 rooms, including 15 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, and 17 fireplaces.
