The Masquerade Macabre is a formal masquerade honoring the spirits of Ventfort Hall. All funds raised fund operations and salaries, allowing our living spirits to stay alive! The mansion is a restoration-in-progress.
Visitors will witness rooms and spaces in all stages of restoration.
Ventfort Hall is the 28,000 ft² seasonal Berkshire 'cottage' commissioned by Sarah Morgan (sister of J.P. Morgan) and her husband George H. Morgan, completed in 1893.
Today, Ventfort Hall is owned and operated by Ventfort Hall Association, a non-profit dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the estate, sharing its unique and varied history, and creating a community space for arts & culture.

Our Restoration Story

The Ventfort Hall Association began restoring Ventfort Hall in 1997. Over the past three decades, we have completed nearly the entirety of the first and second floors of the main mansion -- with a third floor and basement yet to be restored. Additional buildings on the property include the original Carriage House and Gardener's Cottage. Learn more about our restoration efforts and how to get involved.

Yes. Ventfort Hall is notoriously haunted by a few spirits.

We treat our ghosts as we treat each other, with kindness and respect- and they do the same. We program regular ghost tours & paranormal investigations with guides who are respectful of our resident spirits. If you're interested in meeting them, check out our schedule of events!

Third Annual Masquerade Macabre

Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum will host its highly anticipated Third Annual Masquerade Macabre on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM EDT. The historic, endearingly haunted 28,000-square-foot Jacobean Revival mansion will invite the public to celebrate and support the Spirits of Ventfort Hall (Living and…otherwise) for the third annual fall fundraising event. Rather than sweeping its historic spirits under the rug, Ventfort Hall invites guests to don their finest formal masquerade ensemble to dance alongside them. The formal fundraising gala directly benefits the museum, funding daily operations and salaries to keep the mansion’s "living spirits" alive.
